TRANSLATION

Make a color chart first. Choose a Light Color and then a darker color for shade. You will need a Brown Light and Dark, orange, Yellow, Red and a color for the hat.

This Tutorial was written in PSP 9. Can be done in any Version.

1. Open a New Image 500 X 500. Using the Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Change your Background to a Brown color. Make your Foreground Null and draw out an Ellipse. Just pull out the top a bit. Right Click on this Layer and Choose Duplicate. Then go to Image Rotate/Free Rotate, Choose Right. Put in a 25 and Apply. Do this 3 more times. Then Go back to the Original Feather Layer. Duplicate the Layer and then Rotate it Left 25 for 4 times. Move them if you need to.

2. Add a New Vector Layer Named Body. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a Ellipse and Shape as Shown Below, Using the Same Brown color as your Background. I used a Different color so you could see it.

3. Add a New Vector Layer Named Head. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a Ellipse and Shape as Shown Below, Using the Same Brown color as your Background. I used a Different color so you could see it.

4. Add a New Vector Layer Named Hand. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a Ellipse and Shape as Shown Below, Using the Same Brown color as your Background. I used a Different color so you could see it. Right click on this Layer and Choose Duplicate. Then go to Image Mirror.

5. Add a New Vector Layer Named Nose. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Triangle. Make a small triangle and Shape as Shown Below, Using a Orange color as your Background. Draw it Upside down. Hold Down the Shift Key and Click on the 2 Top Nodes. Right Click and Choose Node Type Symmetric.

6. Add a New Vector Layer Named Thing. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a small ellipse and Shape as Shown Below, Using a Red color as your Background.

7. Add a New Vector Layer Named Eye. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a small Ellipse as Shown Below, Using Black as your Foreground, Size 1, and the Same brown Color as the head for the Background.

8. Add a New Vector Layer Named Inner Eye. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a small Ellipse as Shown Below, Using a White as your Background, Foreground Null. Draw a Small Ellipse as shown below.

9. Add a New Vector Layer Named Black Eye. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a small Ellipse as Shown Below, Using Black as your Background, Foreground Null. Draw a Small Ellipse as shown below.

10. Add a New Vector Layer Named Hat. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Ellipse. Make a Ellipse as Shown Below, Using your Hat color as your Background, Foreground Null.

11. Add a New Vector Layer Named Band. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Rectangle. Make a Rectangle as Shown Below, Using your Band color as your Background, Foreground Null. Dont worry about going over the hat we will fix later.

12. Add a New Vector Layer Named Buckle. Using your Preset Shapes Tool/Rectangle. Make a Rectangle as Shown Below, Using your Buckle color as your Foreground, Size 4. Background Null.

Lets put it together.

13. Go to your Feather Layer. Right Click and Choose View Current Layer Only. Then Right Click again and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Change your Foreground to your shade color. Using the Airbrush Tool, with the following settings, Shade around the edges:
Size: 55
Hardness: 7
Step: 24
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Opacity: 24

Then Change to a Orange and Yellow Color and shade the feather. Repeat this for all the Feather layers.

14. Go to your Body Layer. Then Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Change your Foreground to your Dark Brown shade color. Using the Airbrush Tool, Size 55, Shade around the edges.

15. Go to your Head Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Using the Airbrush Tool, Size 55, Shade around the edges.

16. Go to your Hand Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Using the Airbrush Tool, Size 55, Shade around the edges. Repeat for the other Hand.

17. Go to your Nose Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Change your Foreground to a dark Orange Shade. Using the Airbrush Tool, Size 35, Shade around the edges.

18. Go to your Thing Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Change your Foreground to a dark Red Shade. Using the Airbrush Tool, Size 35, Shade around the edges.

19. Go to your Eye Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster.

20. Go to your White Eye Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster.

21. Go to your Black Eye Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the Round Preset that comes with PSP. Merge all eye Layers together. Right Click and choose Duplicate. Use the Mover tool to Move over.

22. Go to your Hat Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float. Change your Foreground to a dark Shade. Using the Airbrush Tool, Size 35, Shade around the edges. Before Deselecting. Go to Selections/Load Save Slections/Save Selection to Alpha Channel. Name it what you want.

23. Go to your Band Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster. Load the Selection you just made. Then go to Selections/Invert and hit the delete key.

24. Go to your Buckle Layer. Right Click and Choose Convert to Raster.

25. Go to the Head Layer and add a New Vector Layer. Change your Background to Your Sign Color. Using the Preset Shapes Tool/Rectangle draw out to fit the Hands. Right Click and Convert to Raster. Decorate as you wish and add any words you want.

I also went to under the Eye layer and added some eye lashes with the pen tool.
