TIPS & TRICKS
ABOUT REMOTE LOADING OR
Also Called HOT LINKING
Never link graphics or midi files from another server without permission. There are many reasons not to link to someone else's server. It not only slows down the other person's server, meaning it takes longer for their page to load when someone want's to look at it. Another thing is the person may change the page around, and if you've linked, your files will all be missing!
What is linking to another persons server?
It is simply taking a graphic or midi from some other web site and putting it's address
in your HTML document instead of yourown web site address. Each web site is on a server owned by an ISP. An ISP may have many different servers networked for his services to use.
When someone links to a graphic on a server
it takes up BANDWIDTH or access time for
the computers to get the graphic. The person you are linking to could have to pay for extra bandwith also. It is always best to have the graphics uploaded into your own directory.
